Naast het viaduct van de Risøy brug staat een sculptuur genaamd Fiskehandler (visverkoper). De vissershaven ligt nu buiten het stadscentrum, en voorheen losten vissers hun vangst direct aan de waterkant, waar ze vis en andere producten verkochten. Handmatige weegschalen werden gebruikt om de prijs van het product te bepalen.

Next to the overpass of the Risøy bridge there is a sculpture called Fiskehandler (fish seller). Now the fishing port is located outside the city center, and before fishermen unloaded their catch directly on the waterfront, where there was a wholesale and retail sale of seafood. Manual scales were used to determine the cost of the product.

De kerk "Vår Frelsers Kirke", Kerk van onze redders. Met de rode bakstenen en in gotische stijl. Ontworpen door architect Einar Halleland. Binnen zijn standbeelden en glas-in-lood ramen. Het klokkenspel heeft 36 klokken met een indrukwekkend geluid.

The "Vår Frelsers Kirke" (Church of Our Saviors), built of red brick and in the Gothic style, was designed by architect Einar Halleland. Inside, there are statues and stained-glass windows. The carillon has 36 bells, producing an impressive sound.

Een monument voor vissers (Fiskerne) uit 1920. Een eerbetoon aan de geschiedenis van de stad welke is ontstaan uit de visserij. Het is geschonken door reder Stolt Nielsen.

Opdrachtgever: The Pelagic Sculpture Partnership

Materialen: Gegoten brons en roestvrij staal

Het beeld is in opdracht gemaakt door het Pelagic Sculpture Partnership, bestaande uit Shetland Catch, Shetland Fish Producers' Organisation, Lerwick Port Authority en LHD, in samenwerking met Shetland Arts, ter ere van Shetlands lange band met de pelagische visserij.

Het beeld heeft de vorm van een gigantische boei en is voorzien van tekeningen en teksten die in het wateroppervlak zijn gegoten. De gebruikte beelden en woorden zijn ontstaan tijdens workshops, gesprekken en ontmoetingen in het kader van het gemeenschapsproject The Fish Van Collection.

The Fish Van Collection toerde over de eilanden en ontmoette gepensioneerde en jonge vissers, haringvissers, schrijvers, gemeenschapsgroepen en schoolkinderen. Er werden workshops gehouden in musea, op scholen en voor de kinderen van de afgelegen eilanden in Lerwick. Het project verzamelde verhalen, foto's, objecten en minisculpturen die werden tentoongesteld op verschillende locaties in Shetland.

Commissioner: The Pelagic Sculpture Partnership

Materials: Cast bronze and stainless steel

The sculpture was commissioned by the Pelagic Sculpture Partnership comprising of Shetland Catch, Shetland Fish Producers’ Organisation, Lerwick Port Authority and LHD in association with Shetland Arts to celebrate Shetland’s long association with the pelagic fishing industry.

The sculpture takes the form of a giant buoy, it incorporates drawings and text cast that are cast into the surface. The images and words used were developed out of workshops, conversations and encounters gathered as part of the community project The Fish Van Collection.

The Fish Van Collection toured the islands meeting retired and young fishermen, herring gutters, writers, community groups and schoolchildren. Workshops were held in museums, schools and for the remote isles children in Lerwick. The project collected stories, photographs, objects and mini sculptures that were exhibited in venues around Shetland
